Monday 30th July to Friday 3rd August

From Seurat to Matisse to Riley.
This in depth course is for students who are familiar with the basics of colour mixing, but who want to 'up their game' and make better use of colour in their compositions. You will develop your ability to play with colour, how to place it alongside others for greater effect and how much to use, to create interesting and dynamic compositions. You will work on studies and activities planned to unpick some of the theory behind planning a good composition in colour, followed by opportunity to apply what you have learned to something of your own. You will be guided by your tutor at all times. Demonstrations will be in acrylics or Artisan water soluble oils (you can use regular oils if you wish).
You will receive a materials list for more information on what to bring.
Composition JANE STROTHER studied painting at Bath Academy of Art and has worked as a painter, illustrator, printmaker and teacher. She works from her studio in Oxford and for Abingdon & Witney College, managing the tutors and curriculum for creative subjects. Her painting continues to develop through a love of the natural environment, particularly the visual structure of our human altered land scape. She works from observation, photographic records and memory.
