'Woodcuts - Prints on Paper'
with Erik Seidel.

Monday 26th to Saturday 31st

Linocut and woodcut are printmaking techniques in which a sheet of soft linoleum or wood is used for the relief surface. It’s an excellent way to make your own work of art – printing without a press, just like old Japanese artists. On the first three days you will learn the different ways to cut with a Stanley knife on soft pieces of wood and to print on rag paper and original Chinese paper. We’ll start with one colour as we learn the technique. As you develop the skill, more colours could be used in a print and you could use several boards for your edition. Landscapes, figures, architecture, still life or abstract motifs will be formed.
Woodcuts ERIK SEIDEL is a German artist who works as a sculptor and graphic artist in his studio in Saxony. He studied art at the University in Magdeburg and Dresden. He often teaches woodcut printing, paper making and sculpture to students of all ages.
