MARY BUTCHER is a basketmaker with a diverse practice: maker, teacher, writer, curator, collector of baskets for
museums and exhibitions. As Craft Resident at the Victoria and Albert Museum she had a wonderful opportunity to make a wider public
‘basket aware’. She has worked closely with the Crafts Council to promote basketmaking, through their
specialist mentoring to a group of emerging makers, as well as selecting major new installations
from established makers at Origin, the Crafts Council’s craft platform. |
