'Plaited Paper Basketry' with Linda Mowat. |
|
Monday 26th to Thursday 29th Paper — whether new or recycled, hand or machine-made, thick or thin, printed, painted or written on, is a wonderful medium for basketry. Its texture and flexibility make it particularly suited to the plaiting technique, in which two-dimensional weaving magically moves into three dimensions, accompanied by fascinating shifts of colour and pattern. This course is suitable both for beginners who have never made a basket before and also for more experienced makers who would like to discover how far plaiting can take them. From simple and elegant checkweave shapes you can move on to experiment with more sculptural forms, or try out the many possibilities of twills, hexagonal weaves and overlays. |
