Tuesday to Saturday
This is a practical and experimental workshop exploring methods of layering papers and fabrics to
form surfaces for stitch. Work with the layers in landscape imagery to compose surfaces on a fine fabric
background, trapping natural fragments and threads within the surface and using dyes, paints and inks to
over lay washes of colour. Experiment with ways of changing the qualities of papers, and incorporate
stitch into landscape compositions developed from your own personal material. Throughout the course
techniques will be explored to develop a series of experimental samples which can be applied to your own
particular way of working in resolving a finished piece - enjoy an exciting opportunity to be creative
and respond to the landscape around you.
The workshop is suitable for those with hand stitch, free machine embroidery skills and basic drawing and
painting ability, as well as the more experienced. Above all bring an open mind and a willingness to
experiment!
