Thursday to Saturday
Imagine having a delectable kit filled with helpful tools just waiting for creative emergencies.
Artists' blocks are part of the creative process - assemble helpful 'power tools' for these challenging
moments. Discover how to combine fabric with paper using fusible web. An embellished cigar box will
hold a 5" x 7" fabric 'Owner's Manual' noting everything necessary for authentic creativity. The use of
dyes, gesso, paint, transfer and embellishment techniques for textural backgrounds will be demonstrated.
'Permission Slip Bundles' encourage play and experiment; an altered match box houses 'Inspiration Seeds'
for times when ideas falter. This class is a visual treat, perfect for all skill levels.

KRISTIN STEINER is an accomplished fabric artist and teacher from South Carolina, USA. Join Kristin on
her third visit to OSS and discover how to create layers of meaningful collage in these fabulous 'altered
fabric' book creations. Kristin's gentle and encouraging teaching style makes every student feel comfortable
whilst learning techniques for incorporating precious memories into fabric pages so personal they are
treasured forever. These two courses stand independent of each other - students are encouraged to do both
or either.
Kristin's own work is featured in 'The Art of Fabric Books', 'Altered Board Books and Beyond', on the cover
of the Spring 2006 issue of 'Cloth Paper & Scissors', and most recently in several articles written for
'Sew Somerset'. She teaches extensively in the USA and runs her own creativity workshops: both at home and
in Europe ('Adventures in Italy').
