SUMMER SCHOOL
27th July-1st August 2009

'Beginning Books'
with Michael Harrison.

Monday to Wednesday

This course is for those who have not yet had the confidence to start on book making or creative writing and is embarrassment free - no reading out for group criticism! It has two parts which work perfectly together. First I teach you a foolproof method of moving from an empty mind to a full page. We work on poetry, narrative, and journals. Then each day also includes the learning of a different simple, but ingenious book structure (each of which leads to endless variations). The day's writing fits this, with attention paid to the design of the book as a whole, and so you create a series of little books. Everyone will take home clear instruction sheets, lots of samples, some beautifully finished books containing writing to be proud of, ideas on how to move forward, and lots of confidence.
MICHAEL HARRISON has published over forty books for children & seven for adults. He has taught on ten previous Oxford Summer Schools & has taught similar courses for Oxford University's Department for Continuing Education.
This 'Beginning Books' course is a good warm-up for, but is not essential for
the 'Altered Books' Course

Course Cost for 3 days £99.
Charge for all materials: £4
Non Refundable Deposit £50.
