Monday to Saturday
Woodcuts are an excellent way to make your own works of art – printing without a
press, just like the old Japanese artists. During the first 3 days you will learn
different ways to cut with a Stanley Knife on soft pieces of wood & to print on rag paper
& original Chinese paper. We will start with one colour as we learn the technique. As
you develop the skill, more colours could be used in a print & you could use several
boards for your piece. Landscapes, figures, architecture, still life or abstract motifs will
be formed. You could use your woodcuts for your own gallery, for presents or for a book.
In this course we will work together on a calendar project for 2009.
