Monday to Friday
The course enables the student to better determine colour choices through an
increased understanding of theory and how colours relate to one another, especially in the
unique interaction of warp and weft. By dyeing samples the students will become familiar with
making precise measurements and repeatable recipes and colour mixing. Students will then
dye colours to match and produce several wraps selecting one for a warp. On the
loom, students will have the opportunity to put into practice various aspects of colour
interaction in relation to weaving; creating a third colour through optical mixing; knocking
colours back by the use of neutrals.
Experience in warping and dressing a loom
independently is required. You require a 4 shaft
table loom, warping posts, raddles and shuttles –
a limited number can be provided by
arrangement.
