'Artistic Metalwork'
with Jackie Roberts.

Monday to Saturday

Learn some of the skills & techniques of artistic metalwork while creating beautiful sculptural wall hangings from steel, copper & brass. The course encourages anyone who feels drawn to metal, doesn’t mind noise, getting dirty & desires the satisfaction of producing something unique. The course is taught in a fully equipped workshop. You will learn workshop safety; how to use oxy- acetylene; power & hand tools; design and template making; shaping, brazing, grinding, polishing & heating to bring out the metals’ natural properties & colours. Students will first try out metalwork techniques by making a fish or a butterfly, then with help, complete their own design – a marine creature, animal, insect, reptile, bird, or abstract creation.
JACKIE ROBERTS lives on the tiny Maltese island of Gozo, producing art in metal full-time. She is inspired by the natural world, particularly the sea & the fusion of different cultures & traditions. Incorporating various metals, glass, found & recycled materials she makes figures, masks, mirrors, wall hangings & functional craftwork. She regularly exhibits in Scotland & Malta, undertakes commissions & sells her work to visitors from all over the world.

Course Cost for 6 days £198.
